We believe that the booklets will give you more information about the science and technology surrounding pregnancy, birth, and parenting. Knowing what to expect can make a big difference as you and your family, friends, and neighbors look forward to welcoming a new baby. project news Local Pittsburgh agencies and organizations will come together on Saturday, June 30, at a free public maternal and infant health fair. The fair will take place at the Homewood Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, 7101 Hamilton Avenue, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and pre-registration is not necessary. For more information, the public can call (412) 731-3080, or e-mail Homewood@carnegielibrary.org. As part of the health fair, AAAS, which is organizing the fair in cooperation with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and The Heinz Endowments, will release three new booklets to the Pittsburgh public. Offering plain-language answers and reminders to help Pittsburgh mothers plan for their healthy future, the trio of booklets are Having a Healthy Pregnancy, Having a Healthy Birth, and Having Healthy Babies. In addition, information will be provided during the event by The Birth Circle, Magee-Womens Hospital-UPMC, Planned Parenthood, The Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health, Tobacco Free Allegheny, the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, Healthy Start, the West Penn Allegheny Health System, and the Women’s Center and Shelter, among others. |
